Jim Benemann, one of Colorado State University’s most prominent alumni in Colorado media, is retiring from his position as CBS4 anchor this month, and he has chosen CSU’s Department of Journalism and Media Communication as one of the fundraising recipients featured at his upcoming retirement celebration.

Benemann announced his retirement last May after a 44-year broadcast career, including 36 in Colorado. The ardent CSU supporter will be honored at an April 5 fundraiser and roast at the Comedy Works South at The Landmark in Greenwood Village. The event begins at 7 p.m. with an after-party hosted by CBS4.

The emcee will be Kevin Fitzgerald, and the celebrity roasters will include Tom Green, Vic Lombardi, Reggie Rivers, Walter Isenberg and Kathy Walsh.

In addition to raising money for scholarships in the JMC department, where Benemann got his CSU degree, proceeds from ticket sales will go to Raise the Future, Food Bank of the Rockies and Amp the Cause.

Tickets are $40 and can be purchased at comedyworks.com/comedians/jim-benemann-celebrity-roast.
