Senior theatre major, Annie Hennen, was awarded the USITT Stage Management Award sponsored by Clear-Com. “I am honored to win this award,” Hennen said. “Stage management has changed my life for the better, and I love being a part of the performing arts in my own creative way.”

The USITT website states, “Candidates for the Stage Management Award must cite work that features the application of excellent stage management skills in the performing arts. The successful entrant will demonstrate clear execution regarding artistic and technical choices, process, and product.” More on the Stage Management Award eligibility here.

Senior theatre major, Dani Ranisate, was awarded the Sherry Wagner-Henry Board Fellow. “I am thankful to the board for giving me this opportunity and all of my mentors here at CSU for supporting me in this process,” Ranisate said. “With this award, I will be able to learn so much about leadership in the nonprofit setting by going to board meetings and being on different committees supporting USITT’s conference this year and next year. I now get to connect with and learn from many different industry professionals about arts management and leadership.”

The USITT board of directors established the Sherry Wagner-Henry Leadership Development Initiative to advance the next generation of leadership in the arts. The program is named in honor of Sherry Wagner-Henry, a longtime USITT member and former board member who passed away unexpectedly in 2020. With feedback from former participants and renamed in her honor to Sherry Wagner-Henry Board Fellowship, the program has refocused to become a flexible, 12-18-month long Fellowship with particular emphasis on finding the future leaders of USITT and investing in their growth. The annual student assistant positions are highly sought after and allow students to assist in the production of the Conference & Stage Expo. In exchange for 15 hours of work at the conference, USITT waives the student’s conference registration fee.
